Collected Peace Meditations

Executive Summary

The outer work of peacemaking begins with the inner work of developing a calm mind, inner peace, compassion, and loving-kindness. I could have conceived of these concepts 10 years ago as a trial lawyer. Today, they resonate with truth. Not everyone uses meditation as a technology of self-development. However, for those interested in meditations related to peace, I have collected a few favorites for this page. Sample them and, if you come across others, send them on to me so I can post them here.

Peace Meditations

From the Planetary Peace International Movement--Meditation for Planetary Peace (28 minutes)

This was the first peace meditation I learned and I practice it frequently. This medidation is from the late Grand Master Choa Kuk Sui, founder of Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga. You will find this to be a very powerful meditation when practiced regularly.

From Beliefnet.com--Peace Meditation by Thich Nhat Hanh (about 5 minutes)

We invite you to spend a few minutes experiencing our peace meditation, inspired by monk, author, and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. The Vietnamese Buddhist Zen master worked tirelessly for peace, especially during the Vietnam War. In 1967, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize. Thich Nhat Hanh argues that unless and until individuals are peaceful within themselves, they cannot work for peace among nations. Note: This feature has audio.
